What is a wheelchair lift?

A wheelchair lift, also called wheelchair platform lift or simply platform lift, is a lift which is designed to lift up a wheelchair to overcome a step, a staircase, or vertical barrier. To make a home, commercial building or public area comply with accessibility standards, a wheelchair may be required. To be considered as a wheelchair lift, the lift must meet a number of requirements. For example, the platform must be big enough and the doorway must be wide enough to be easily accessible for wheelchairs. The size of platform lift you need depends on the dimensions of your wheelchair. For home lifts we recommend a platform size of at least 1000×1267 mm (w x d), and for public lifts 1000×1467 mm. For home lifts, we recommend a door clear opening width of 800 mm and for public lifts, 900 mm.

Our standard sizes of platform lift A5000, 1000×1467 mm and 1100×1467 mm are wheelchair accessible .
